Towards Insurgent Subsistence [ A Northern BC Node]

The intention behind this discussion is to instigate the formation of an autonomous village or network of nodes in Northern BC.
One that consists of Anarchists, Warriors, Land Defenders and those who are interested in simple low tech. living, decolonization, traditional subsistence, martial skills and raising kids in a bush community.
This is a call out to those who want to liberate, nurture and defend a territory that they can call their own because they have become part of it. We want to create a culture of Subsistence and Resistance. If these ideas speak to you then lets get the ball rolling and make it happen.

For the purpose of discussion I’ll list a few topics that could be expanded upon. But of course these are all just ideas and everything is open to suggestion. Look at this not as a framework but as a starting point for forming a real project.

Way of Life:

  • How we interact with each other
  • How we obtain &/or share food, supplies, money, etc.

Finding the Location

  • Whether it is private property, rented, squatted, traditional territory etc.
  • Do we have to buy it? How can we afford it?

Social Organization

  • Anarchist, Traditionalist, etc.
  • the commune vs, the community, vs. the village

Intentions

  • Living simply (using less and simple tech.)
  • Relearning the skills necessary to take care of ourselves and each other
  • Resistance
  • Solidarity and Networking

We are already living rurally (about 35kms from a small northern town) which doesn’t seem far but we are also behind an indigenous blockade that limits open access to the area. This results in the area being frequented less and seeming more remote then maybe we are which has both negatives and positives.
We have a four year old and plan on having yet more children who we would raise in the bush. I love learning skills, spending time in the bush and am looking forward to our first moose hunt. My life is full of pleasure and joy yet I am lacking a community or group of people to develop projects with. We are currently living on someone else’s land who isn’t interested in having more people so to increase our opportunity for potential community and autonomy we need to find in something else.
I am interested in a project that involves youth/children, is land-based, and welcoming of a diversity of folks who are anti-authoritarian and want to collectively unschool.
I am interest in other people’s ideas around autonomy within community, especially at its outset. For example: how are agreements made about project priorities that honours both personal autonomy and group cohesion?

i’m not in canada, but i am currently living on a sailboat in ketchikan with my honey. i can’t say i’m available or invested in forming long-term community in northern b.c. in particular (not sure how long we’ll be in this area), but i am decently nearby. so - if any b.c. folks happen to pass through ketchikan, you’d be in good company. & if you want visitors for particular events or big projects, i’m within a reasonable range for travel.
