The wild garden idea

permaculture towards the wild…never quite sure that fits here in the boreal forest- we built a garden smack dap in the middle of wild…on a piece of land that we sometimes see as a subdivision - because we do have a gravel road and only 40 min drive to city… We did cut a 1/4 acre size hole into the boreal forest- we have a pretty intact wild area around us…have bears, wolves, lynx, moose, deer , and a whole bunch more walking through here …so would our garden be towards the wild ??? we are not restoring, re- wilding in this sense… we try to live here with all the restrictions reality brings on…yet looking at what happens to my mind- set -…it definitely is a walk towards the wild…nothing here grows in a row…it looks totally " wild " for anyone that is used to grow food… we encourage and grow up to 250 different foods here…many wild or weeds…or so they say…and we learn so much from all those plants and other beings around… we walk out and gather what is there…harvest only applies to the annuals we grow in an area , to the roots we grow and store for winter …. mostly we just bask in the abundance , the change every year…the unpredictability…and enjoy eating our way through all this chaos so …yes- one step for us towards the wild …in a very playful way !

Sounds pretty good to me overall…
