Going to Oregon, then going to Alaska to visit

I’m really excited to say I’m moving to central Oregon soon (from the Twin Cities). I’ll be there for the fall and winter, and then I’m going to go up to Alaska to visit (and potentially to stay). If any NW people want to talk about going up with me let me know. I’m hoping to go up around late May/early June unless I hear of a better time from Alaska folks.

You’ll like central Oregon. I live in Powell Butte, Oregon having moved here from Pennsylvania and just love the climate here. I’d love to visit Alaska sometime but I think that trip will have to wait awhile.

Jeriah, Thanks for the offer, but I have a place to stay. I’m staying with a friend outside Corvallis at a small homestead (I think near Philomath). I’m really excited about it. The growing season is really short here in MN, so I’m excited to grow some food year 'round.

If you and your partner would like to meet up that’d be great. I’ll be settled in around mid-Nov.

If you have any job connections let me know. I’m looking for either part-time fancy barista work, in home elder care (I’m certified), or farming/gardening jobs. My plan for now is to grow a bunch of garden starts and sell at farmer’s markets come April/May (or just sell on the road out of my truck, CL, etc.). But I could use some Winter work too, as farming/gardening stuff of course won’t start until mid-Feb.

If you’re into old-style hide tanning, or wanting to get into it, I’m very helpful with that and in person instruction works the best.

Ed, I love Central Oregon already. I know it pretty well. I have a bunch of friends in the NW and have mostly lived near the Puget Sound area of WA (which I strongly recommend visiting, especially the San Juan Islands and Olympic Peninsula).

Hey sorry i’m just now getting back to you, i’ve been in and out of the field, and have been neglecting the internet-world.

Yeah i’d love to met up, I dont really have any job leads unfortunately, as I am currently job-hunting myself, ha!

I love tanning, but Oregon is super weird about roadkill processing. I’ve already had a couple (ahem) interactions with local ODFW. Im trying to find somewhere (private land) where I can safely process roadkill, but haven’t had much luck. Are you in philomath now? Hit me up - (719) 209-1459 or [email protected].
