when I think in terms of archetypal characters or societal roles, I’m struggling to separate out those that may pre-date civilization from those that were shaped by it. where can I turn to explore more of this? is Jung the guy? Campbell? I would to read some stuff exploring individual and social archetypes that aren’t borne of or strictly functional in an agrarian culture. for example, are there archetypal antecedents to the soldier, the king, the sage, etc?
